ReadyCorps (previously known as American Contingency) was originally founded by Green Beret Michael Glover in response to the chaotic unrest that took place in the Summer of 2020. At that time, the focus of AmCon was on individual preparedness.
In 2022, Mike moved on to other things and Thom Rigsby took on the role of Executive Director. In 2025, Thom became the company’s CEO and rebranded the organization as ReadyCorps.
Thom’s background includes 14 years of military service and extensive experience in preparedness and disaster response. It’s no wonder why Thom has been passionate and involved in seeing the ReadyCorps network grow and thrive from the beginning.
For Thom, the name ReadyCorps grew out of a desire to move from individual-focused preparedness to help families and communities become ready to respond and recover from difficult situations they may face.
A passionate advocate for self-reliance and resilience, he leads efforts to empower families, businesses and communities with the skills and knowledge to confidently face life’s critical moments.
Based in Huntsville, Alabama, Thom works around the country to build networks and local resource groups, preparing individuals and families for any crisis. With a unique blend of military training, leadership expertise, and hands-on preparedness, he is dedicated to helping others take control of their safety and future.

DEVELOPING A NATIONWIDE NETWORK
We built a nationwide support structure, created local, state and regional organizations and organized responses to fellow members in need with in-person and financial support. ReadyCorps has local teams and community leaders across the country, in all 50 states. We have donated tens of thousands of dollars to help our communities when they were devastated by natural disasters.
ReadyCorps developed a nationwide network of communicators dedicated to standing up and operating an information backbone during emergencies. And through the work of the Ham Radio Network, we are reaching out to others in the amateur radio community to grow our footprint. The ham radio team also developed an Elmer’s program that leverages the skills of more experienced amateur operators to help new and aspiring operators get on the air.
DELIVERING ACTIONABLE INFORMATION
The ReadyCorps Information and Situational Awareness Team (RISAT) set the standard for daily, useful information that could affect your location or travel plans. The team is made up of member volunteers who produce daily reports to ensure you have validated information regarding the events, activities, and threats you may face each day.
Some of our members were filled with anxiety over “the system” they’d be forced to rely on should the worst happen. Now, they possess a quiet confidence that they are prepared for most situations and they have a stable safety net that stretches to all corners of the country should they need it!
Our vetting program helps establish a baseline trust for interacting with one another. As part of that program, we have the capability to scan QR codes on our dog tags to validate the holder and their status within ReadyCorps. Without this trust it would be nearly impossible to build the strong, lifetime relationships that make up ReadyCorps.
BUILDING COMMUNITY
Many of our members are involved in their local communities – some in small ways, others in very big ways – demonstrating leadership and commitment to build America into something that we all desire.
We are committed to one another, demonstrating that while we are all individuals, we don’t have to face the future alone! With more than 170 local groups across the country and a robust platform for connecting members, there is something for everyone regardless of your location, interests, or level of experience!
And with all this that YOU have accomplished, there is still more to come!
